McCain vs Obama - Round One

Initial thoughts:

McCain did poorly. He was never a good speaker or debater. Flubbed his scripted one-liners, lots of senate speak, mindlessly rattling off places he visited. Invoking Henry Kissinger (lets all bow our heads) who is popular with who?

Ugh, and talking about how Corporate taxes are too high! Maybe the 700 billion bailout will make the corporate fat cats feel better. Babbling about $18 billion in earmarks when the defense budget is 500 billion and the total budget is 2,000 billion.

And why the constant laughing and creepy smiles while Obama talked? That will lose him votes. And the KGB talk about Putin was scary.

He'd better hope for the "Bradley effect" or he's toast.

The Bradley effect if real. And it works in strange ways. I speak to alot of people in the Chinese and Thai community here in New York and they are all against Obama. The Dominicans too in a big way. Not enough to tilt the election in New York but you know it might be closer than a lot of people think. I think the Bradley effect will really be felt in places like Ohio and Pennsylvania, the places he lost to Hillary. He hasn't done anything to really reach out there.

Interesting. I didn't know New York had a large Chinese and Thai community. And Dominicans? What happened to the Puerto Ricans.

Sorry Trooper, all my knowledge of New York City comes from TV and the Movies. Are the Sharks and Jets still having gang fights?

And you're probably right about Penn/Ohio/Mich - they're full of people clinging to their Guns and religion.

There are five Chinatowns in New York City as well as three blocks in Midtown that would qualify as Koreatown. The Puerto Ricans have generally been overtaken by the Dominicans as they are more recent immigrants and totally control the north end of Manhattan starting at Washington Heights. And the funny thing is the Puerto Ricans and the Dominicans really hate each other. It's funny really.
