Why America is so Dumb - the non-reading American

According to survey by the Cordex Group (hat-tip Atlantic Mag):

1) 49% of Adult American's haven't read a book in 12 month.  No book. Nada, zip. Not even Harlequin romance or "How to make money on X" or "On cherry street".

2) 39% read  1-11 books a year.  Again, we're talking ANY kind of book.

3) 19%  read at least 12 books a year.

4) 80% of book reading is done by 20% of the people.
